MergeRight

A WordPress importer built for merging, not cloning.

The stock WordPress importer was built for moving into an empty house. Use it on a site that already has content and it times out halfway, skips media without saying which, and leaves you diffing databases at midnight. MergeRight is an importer for the merge case.

What it does

• Imports WXR files in the background, resumably — a timeout means "continue", not "start over"
• Verifies every item after import, so "done" means checked, not attempted
• Retries failed media and reports exactly what didn't make it
• Merges into existing content instead of cloning over it

Status

In development at the studio. It will appear on the WordPress.org plugin directory when it's ready; this page is where its install link will live.
